Company History

MultiMed Billing Service was founded in Baldwinsville, New York in 1989 as one of the first dedicated ambulance billing companies in the United States. Now approaching its 30th anniversary, MultiMed represents more than 100 clients nationwide.

The company began as an extension of those clients, aiming to function as a seamless addition - the "billing department down the hall.""

Over the past three decades, the EMS landscape has changed drastically. MultiMed has evolved through all of it and our clients benefit from that longevity and experience. We maintain the "down the hall" feel by assigning each account a dedicated claim representative, who clients will get to know on a first-name basis. But standing behind that representative are the resources of a thriving company with highly specialized employees, a broad network of contacts and a breadth of experience in all areas related to EMS billing.

Meet the Management Team

Bill Long
CEO & Founder

Bill Long is MultiMed's founder and CEO. In addition to 28 years in medical billing, Bill spent 20 years working in claims at a leading insurance company. He is a Certified Healthcare Billing and Management Executive (HBMA) and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Bill enjoys golf and spending time with his family.

William Shipman
Senior Vice President, Sales

Bill Shipman is in his 23rd year with MultiMed. He currently serves as Senior Vice President and member of the Board of Directors. Bill is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Bill, his wife and two sons live in Baldwinsville, New York. Bill is originally from Penn Yan, New York and has also lived in Connecticut and England. When not enjoying time at MultiMed, Bill may be found playing golf or coaching his two sons youth baseball and basketball teams.

Emily Chase
Director, Operations

Emily manages MultiMed's team of expert claims representatives and has worked at MultiMed since 1995. Emily sees to it that all of our clients and their claims are handled efficiently, professionally and within compliance. Emily holds an Associate of Arts degree in Human Services from Genesee Community College.

Liz Griffith
Director, Finance

Liz Griffith is a Licensed Master of Social Work with more than 21 years of health care experience. At MultiMed, Liz is responsible for Client Services and the month end process. She enjoys traveling with her family and attending their various sporting events.

Liz was previously employed at Medical Answering Services where she was the General Manager and Corporate Compliance Officer, the PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program where she was the Director of Operations, Odyssey Health Care and Manor Care Health Services in Pittsburgh, PA.

John Lester
Director, Business Integration

John is a certified Paramedic with more than 17 years of EMS experience. John oversees MultiMed's Information Technology, remittance processing, and training departments. As a web and software developer, John finds new ways to improve efficiencies around the office. Off hours, John finds family time to enjoy camping, kayaking, snowmobiling and bicycling.

Elizabeth Staple
Compliance

Beth Staple holds a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a B.S. in Public Relations from Syracuse University. With five years of health law experience, Beth serves as MultiMed's in-house counsel and compliance officer. Beth enjoys reading, sports, and travel.

Jason Haag
Clinical Educator

Jason comes with more than 16 years of fire and EMS experience. Jason is a New York State Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC). He also speaks at conferences nationwide. Jason continues his EMS advocacy through his active involvement with Finger Lakes Regional EMS Council, NY SEMSCO, founding the New York State EMT Association, and NAEMT. He is still a practicing Paramedic in the field. His involvement in local organizations, Scouts, Free and Accepted Masons, Rotary International and Ducks Unlimited will occupy his days after his daily family time with his wife Jami and son Gavin.
